PeckhamRemovals SE15

About us

Five rules, and one postcode

No founding story and no claim about how long anybody has been doing this. What is worth judging a removals firm on is how it plans, who turns up, and what it refuses to take on.

  1. Two people, minimum

On anything with furniture in it. One person and a wardrobe on a communal staircase damages the wardrobe, the staircase and eventually the person. It is not a premium option here; it is the only way we do it.

  2. Survey before quote

In person, or over video for a room or a studio. Somebody looks at the floor, the stairs and the street before a number exists — a price invented from a description gets corrected on the day.

  3. We plan the street, not just the load

Where the van stands, for how long, and how far the carry is. In SE15 that decides more about your day than the furniture does.

  4. Storage is assumed, not upsold

Most moves here have a gap in them. We ask about it on the first call rather than waiting for it to become a problem on a Saturday afternoon.

  5. We say what we will not do

House clearance, pianos, safes, and local-only moves in areas with their own firms. Turning those down costs us bookings and saves everybody a bad day.

Why SE15 is its own job

Most of the flats are houses that were divided up. Most of the moving happens a room at a time. Almost every move has a gap between tenancies in it. And the loading question — where a vehicle can actually stand — is harder here than the lifting.

A firm that mostly works suburban semis will treat all four of those as surprises. We treat them as the brief.

On price

There are no figures anywhere on this site, deliberately. A number written before anybody has seen the stairs, the street and the volume would be fiction, and fiction on a website becomes an argument in a hallway.

You get a written quote after a survey instead: what is included, what would change it, and what happens if your dates move.

The other firm on this postcode

There is a second removals site covering SE15 with a quieter, more photographic register. Two firms can work one area honestly; ask both the same three questions — where will the van stand, who is doing the wrapping, and what happens if the dates move — and go with whichever answers them straight.

What we send elsewhere

House clearance, which needs a waste carrier licence we do not hold. Pianos and safes, which want specialists. And local-only moves in Camberwell, Dulwich, Brixton and Lewisham, where the firms who work those streets daily will do better than we would.

Ask the awkward question first. It costs nothing.

The staircase, the street, the date your landlord controls. Those are worth settling before anybody books anything.
