Man and van
Smaller loads, carried properly
Half the moving in this postcode is too big for a car and far too small for a removal. That is what this is — and it comes with two people, because one person and a mattress on a communal staircase is how walls get marked.
- A room out of a share off Bellenden Road
- A studio flat above a Rye Lane shop
- One sofa from a shop that stops at the kerb
- A marketplace buy from the other side of London
- An auction or salvage collection with a deadline
- A part-load into or out of a storage unit
- Kit for a stall, a studio or a market pitch
- A bedroom of furniture going to a first flat
What it is
A van and a crew who load it, with the same materials as a full house move — blankets on upholstery, corner protection, straps in the back. The only difference is the scale.
What it is not is van hire with a driver watching. If you want to do the carrying yourself, hiring a vehicle is cheaper and we will say so rather than take the booking.
Collections
A good share of this work never involves your home at all. A sofa from a showroom, something bought online from a seller in north London, a salvage piece with a collection deadline.
We need the address, any reference, the seller's window and a straight description. Say what it actually is — weight changes what the crew brings far more than size does.
Where the line sits
At roughly two rooms of furniture. Past that it becomes three trips and a long day, and a proper removal costs less. We will tell you which side of the line you are on when you describe the load.
Moving one room out of a shared house is its own thing — see share and student moves.
How far we go
Anywhere in SE15 and the streets around it for short work, and across London and beyond for collections and single items. A run out to Kent, Surrey or Essex is ordinary.
Worth knowing
Man and van, the honest answers
How many people come?
Two, on anything with furniture in it. One person and a wardrobe on a communal staircase damages the wardrobe, the staircase and eventually the person.
Can you collect from a shop or a seller?
Constantly — marketplace buys, shop deliveries that stop at the kerb, and pieces bought from sellers across London. Send the address, any reference, the seller's window and a straight description of the item.
Do you help carry, or just drive?
Carry, wrap, load and unload. If you would rather do the lifting yourself, hiring a van is cheaper and we will tell you so.
What size job is too big for this?
Past a couple of rooms of furniture it becomes several trips and a long day. At that point a full removal is quicker and usually cheaper — and we will say which one you actually need.
Can you do same-week collections?
Often, particularly for single items. Ring rather than email if it is urgent; the diary is easier to read out loud than to type.
Describe the load and both addresses.
What it is, the floor at each end, and whether a van can stand outside. Enough for a straight answer.
